Founded in 1895, M. Lipsitz & Company is the oldest business in Waco and a Texas Treasure Business. The headquarters yard at 100 Elm Avenue buys scrap Monday through Saturday from 8 to 5 and is closed Sunday. Ferrous purchases include heavy melt, cast iron, electric motors, appliances, and car bodies. A car body needs a title with no liens, fluids drained, and the battery, tires, and gas tank removed. Refrigerators and air conditioners must arrive with coolants evacuated. Non-ferrous purchases include aluminum, copper wire and tubing, insulated copper, brass, stainless steel, lead, and batteries. Computers, cell phones, and circuit boards are bought as e-scrap. Refused items include hazardous waste, asbestos, refrigerants, PCB capacitors, liquids, mercury, tires, paint cans, Ni-Cad batteries, and propane bottles. Container service runs from 20-yard to 50-yard roll-offs.
