SWA Recovered Materials Processing Facility

The Recovered Materials Processing Facility (RMPF) is operated by the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County to process residential curbside recycling collected in the county's blue and yellow bins. The facility keeps the two streams separate, further sorts the recyclables into like materials, bales them, and sells them through a broker to mills and factories that turn them into new products. Blue-bin materials include plastic and glass food containers under two gallons, steel and aluminum cans, and milk and juice cartons, while yellow-bin materials include newspaper, cardboard, school and office paper, and mail.
