River's Edge Recycling processes construction and demolition debris in Plainfield under an IEPA permit, and the yard is open to homeowners and general contractors alike. An automated pick line sorts commodities out of the incoming load and diverts more than 25,000 tons from the landfill each year, and over 75 percent of inbound material is recycled under EPA Section 22.38. The yard accepts shingles, wood, drywall, cardboard, paper, plastics, all metals, concrete, brick, asphalt, and dirt. Wet paint cans, liquids, grass clippings, propane tanks, asbestos, hazardous liquids, and batteries are refused. Roll-off dumpsters in 20 and 30 yard sizes come through sister company Economy Disposal. Hours run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon.
