Billy Wright Landfill Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off
17173 South Billy Wright Road
Merced County residents drop off household hazardous waste at no charge at Billy Wright Landfill on South Billy Wright Road in Los Banos, during normal landfill hours. A resident with only hazardous items parks beside the inbound scale and tells the scale house clerk what and how much is in the vehicle, and an attendant directs the load to the right bin. Residents hauling garbage pull onto the scale and report the hazardous items in the same transaction. Regularly accepted items include antifreeze, automotive and household batteries, CFL bulbs and fluorescent tubes, electronics, mercury thermostats, liquid paint, used motor oil and filters, and used cooking oil, most with daily limits.
