About This Center

The Montgomery County Solid Waste District (SWD) provides waste disposal and recycling services to Montgomery County municipalities, businesses, and residents. The SWD houses the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) and the Keep Montgomery County Beautiful program, offering educational programs to schools, communities, and businesses, as well as litter cleanup resources. Unacceptable materials are not removed by the SWD, and residents are directed to contact waste haulers in their area for curbside waste removal. The SWD has prepared a report updating residents on their operations, and the Director of Environmental Services has provided details on current operations in a PDF report. Visitors can explore a 3D virtual tour of the Environmental Learning Center on the Tourelc website, guided by Curby the Cardinal, and access fun activities, games, and videos. Residents can also view the 2019 to 2023 Solid Waste District Five-Year Plan in PDF format on the website. For more information or questions, visitors are encouraged to contact the SWD directly.

Maria Savoie (5/5 stars, 11 months ago): Went there today after weeks of searching for exactly this type of place - a do-it-yourself recycling center. They have plenty of parking space and huge metal containers for you to drop off your sorted recycling. Just moved from out of state where they picked up recycling every other week and they don't do that here in ohio where we live - so we had to try and look up the process. Lots of metal-recycling places but not a lot of place like this for everything else (glass plastic paper cardboard) so finding this place was great! One of the employees even was nice enough to give me some hand sanitizer when my recycling got my hands all gross (since it had been sitting in my garage for weeks waiting to find a recycling center to donate) and that was extremely appreciated. Thanks to that dude and thanks to this place for existing!! Will definitely be coming here with all my recycling in the future.

Tracy Hieatt (4/5 stars, a year ago): Left turn lane for Recycling Center & Yard Waste. Note: all recyclables must be separated into their respective dumpsters: Glass Paper and Mixed (metal plastic). Cardboard does not go in Paper it goes in the Cardboard compactor under the shed. Electronics and Car Fluids are under the shed. Hazardous waste and batteries are only collected Tues/Sat 8a-2p. Yard Waste is collected behind the shed.
