What are the hours?

The facility is open 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. All unloading must be completed by 4:00 p.m. It is closed on county-recognized holidays.

Who can use the facility and what do I need to bring?

Proof of Charlotte County residency is required. Bring a valid photo ID showing your name and local address. Out-of-area photo IDs must be accompanied by a current utility bill or document proving a Charlotte County residential address. P.O. Box addresses are not accepted.

Is there a fee or visit limit?

Residents get 12 free visits per fiscal year (Oct. 1 to Sept. 30). Recycling and household hazardous waste drop-offs do not count toward the 12 visits.

What materials are recycled here?

Recycling includes plastics, cardboard, newspaper, mixed paper, glass containers, aluminum and steel cans, and scrap metals such as pipe and metal frames. The site also takes cooking oil, household hazardous waste, and batteries.

Can I drop off items at the C.A.R.E ReUse Store?

Yes. The C.A.R.E (Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies) ReUse Store accepts donations of usable household items, and a Chemical Reuse Shop inside it offers free motor oil, furniture polish, and house paint after signing a liability waiver.

This facility seems to be what every neighborhood should have. It is convenient well run with friendly staff and takes almost anything you’d want to throw out. I use it quite frequently without any issues and always greeted by a friendly face. They were a Godsend in the aftermath of Ian!
