Frequently asked questions
Which transfer stations does Lane County operate?
Lane County runs the Glenwood Transfer Station plus stations in Florence, Cottage Grove, and several rural sites including Sharps Creek. Glenwood is the main facility near Eugene and has live traffic cameras you can check before you go.
What does it cost to drop off garbage?
As of the July 2025 to July 2026 fee schedule, the minimum fee is $15.00 for up to 1 cubic yard. Rural sites charge by volume (for example $27.00 for 1 to 3 cubic yards), while Glenwood and Florence charge by weight at $117.24 per ton. Garbage fees fund the division's programs; no income or property taxes are used.
Can I recycle appliances and tires?
Yes. Appliances are $22.00 each and must be empty with cords and refrigerants intact (do not cut cords or drain refrigerant). Tires 20 inches or smaller are $5.00 each ($6.00 with the wheel), with a limit of 10 per day. RV refrigerators and tanks or tires over the size limits are not accepted.
Are mattresses accepted for free?
Mattresses and box springs are free to recycle at the Glenwood Transfer Station (max 4 units per day). At all other transfer stations they are charged as garbage rather than recycled.

Been here several times during the week I highly recommend avoiding the weekends unless you have an hour or so to dump. The weekends are much busier than weekdays. Make sure you get your discounts they do a pretty good job with them but it was super busy today (see pictures).

I love it when things work like they should. Today I disposed of old fluorescent bulbs used motor oil a dead LED TV and a couple of gallons of paint in various containers all with no red tape no appointment and zero hassles. The St Vinnies people took some usable building material and a good bed frame off my hands and kept them out of the dump. The rest of my pickup truck full of household waste went into the pit and it was all done in in this one place in 20 minutes for 13 bucks. Thanks for making this efficient and painless Lane County and partners!
