About this center
The Clark County Solid Waste District runs six public recycling drop-off stations around Springfield and the county, with its West Recycling Station on West Main Street next to the district office. The West lot stays open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, and the other stations stay open during daylight hours.
Each station has one bin for paperboard and cardboard and another for cans, glass, plastic, and paper, loaded loose and never in bags. The West Station adds containers for books, yard waste, and Styrofoam. The district also lends a community cleanup trailer to volunteer groups and runs the Keep Clark County Beautiful program.

Apparently the recycling center has moved to the 1620 building next door and is only open on Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month. I'm unsure why we're keeping this a secret online.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. I dropped off some old VCR and cassette tapes a lot of cardboard and 40 lbs of documents needing to be shredded ($0.15/lb sure beats the $1/lb at office-supply stores!). And all of it done by a convenient drive-through process.
