About This Center

Phoenix owns two strategically placed transfer stations, one in north Phoenix and one in South Phoenix. The transfer stations temporarily house all of the trash from Phoenix before hauling it to the State Route 85 Landfill in Buckeye. All recyclables in Phoenix are also sent to the transfer stations to be sorted by the adjoining Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), which sorts glass, paper, metal, cardboard, and plastic into separate bales. Green organics are sent to the 27th Avenue Compost Facility for processing into compost. The transfer stations accept appliances, tires, and other waste materials for a fee, with specific guidelines such as cutting boats and spas into fourths to avoid penalties, and removing valves from bulk propane and Freon containers. Certain wastes like regulated hazardous waste, PCBs, radioactive wastes, and infectious wastes are prohibited. Disposal fees are $55 per ton with a $40 minimum charge, payable in cash or credit card. Residents can also enroll in the Certified Green Organics Program for vegetation-only loads. Commercial customers need an Express Exit Disposal Permit Decal for each vehicle. Jazmin Mascorro (5/5 stars, a year ago): Throwing things away is cathartic. 🚮 Helped my stepdad clean out our storage unit and we had a big load in our trailer of junk to dump so we cruised over here. They weight your vehicle and you have to out a cash deposit to enter the location. Then you drive to where you need to be. They have sections for yard waste tvs refrigerators and mattresses. The crew directed us to the big building and we reversed the trailer in and got to dumping. 🚮 The line was kinda long on the day we went but it went fast. Pro tip: make sure to wear eye protection in the dumping area and bring at least $100 cash for the deposit. 💵

Romulo Espinoza (1/5 stars, a month ago): I just have totally disappointed this transfer station just now I was in line waiting for my turn to go to the cashier and she ask me for my water and I'd. To show her but some kind of gate guard came to mi and tells me go away its already close I probably don't know how to to his job yelling people and call me layer I pay a lot of money on water bills every month I don't deserve this type of service. this happens on 02/22/2025- 3:00pm. Ths is not right.
