What are the landfill hours and tipping fees?
The Burke County Landfill is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tipping fees start at a minimum of $5.00 and go up to $55.00 per ton. Tires cost $125.00 per ton. The facility will be closed on Saturday, July 4th.
Can Burke County residents dispose of items for free?
Yes, Burke County residents can bring up to 5 bags of household waste, furniture (mattresses, chairs, couches), white goods (old appliances), cardboard boxes, and metal with no charge at the landfill.
What payment methods are accepted?
The landfill accepts all major debit and credit cards as well as cash. As of January 2, 2025, checks are no longer accepted as a form of payment.
What items are not accepted at the landfill?
Out-of-county waste, yard debris, commercial waste, biohazard waste, batteries, paint, oil, chemicals, hazardous waste, asbestos, and dead animals are not accepted.
