About this center
The City of Bentonville runs this compost facility on NW A Street, grinding yard waste into compost and wood mulch. Residents drop off yard waste with a recent utility bill and photo ID. The facility refuses animal waste of any kind, including barn and stall waste, and no longer accepts commercial haulers.
Staff load all bulk compost and wood chips, so pickup requires a truck or trailer. Residents without one buy 40-pound bags of screened compost when stock is available. The yard sells fine screened, medium unscreened, and coarse grades plus raw wood mulch, with sales by cash only. Wood chips are free to anyone, and recycling bins sit on site. The facility opens Monday through Saturday and posts closures and grinding weeks on its city page.

I’ve been bringing our landscape organic waste here for many years. As a Bentonville resident this is a really nice facility to have access to. We also save our glass and large cardboard for deposit at this facility. I probably visit 4 to 6 times per year. While I’ve never needed the mulch they produce I did catch a picture of the mulch production on my last visit.

This is a great place to get compost for a reasonable price. I get the bagged screened compost and it’s awesome. The first time I used it (about 10 years ago) I noticed a big improvement in my trees shrubs and other plants. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. This year Taylor assisted me and he was awesome. Loaded my car quickly and was friendly and helpful.

This is a great place to get compost for a great price. I recently picked up several yards of sifted compost for $20 per yard to to amend the soil in my new lawn installation. The sifted compost is not “finely sifted” but worked just fine for my application.
