Paint drop-off Thu-Sat 11:00 AM-5:00 PM

Started in 1994, The Green Project is a 501(c)(3) in the St. Roch neighborhood of New Orleans. At 2831 Marais Street it collects usable latex and water-based paint and mixes that paint into interior, exterior, and primer colors. Paint is mixed weekly, and 40,000 gallons are diverted each year. Paint drop-off uses the double doors on Press Street by the marble yard, Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Containers must be latex or water-based, carry the original label, be at least one-third full, and show no hardening, grit, separation, or mildew smell. Oil-based paint, stains, spray paint, and dried-out cans are refused. The limit is 10 gallons per household or business per visit. A salvage store in the same warehouse takes doors, windows, lumber at least 4 feet long, fixtures, cabinets, and working tools. Material drop-off is Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
