Tulsa Indoor Dump has run as the city's drive-through transfer station since 1987, under state license TS3572037 and operated by Tulsa Recycle & Transfer, an American Waste Control company. Everything the landfill takes, the indoor dump takes: household and commercial waste, construction and demolition material, tires, mattresses and futons, and large appliances with the freon removed. Pickups, cars, SUVs, cargo vans, and small box trucks back into a five-door Dump-N-Go area, and larger loads cross the scale. Mr. Murph recycling bins at the entrance off North Peoria Avenue take paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and containers, and steel and aluminum cans. Limbs, trunks, and stumps are accepted within posted size limits, but root balls are not. Payment is by debit or credit card only, and the site refuses hazardous, industrial, and infectious waste, asbestos, batteries, and liquid paint.

Cardboard Recycling in Tulsa: FAQ

Where can I drop off a lot of cardboard in Tulsa, OK?

Municipal drop-off sites and transfer stations usually take flattened boxes free. For large commercial volumes, a recycler may provide a baler or container and sometimes pays for clean bales.

Does cardboard need to be clean?

Flatten boxes and remove packing foam and plastic. Normal tape and labels are fine, and a little grease on a pizza box is accepted by most programs. Wet or soaked cardboard is not.

Do recyclers pay for cardboard?

Only in bulk. Baled, clean corrugated cardboard is a commodity, but household quantities are not worth paying for.
