Battery Recycling in Charlotte: FAQ
Will a scrap yard in Charlotte, NC pay for car batteries?
Most scrap yards buy lead-acid car batteries by the pound or per battery. Auto parts stores usually take them free and may refund a core charge.
How should I store batteries before recycling?
Tape the terminals of lithium and 9-volt batteries or bag each one separately. Loose lithium batteries can short and start fires in bins and trucks.
Can I throw household batteries in the trash?
Alkaline batteries are legal to trash in most states, but rechargeable and lithium batteries are not. Recycling all of them is the safe choice.
